About Kirsty's Tuition

From one classroom teacher to a team built around every student

Kirsty Owen, founder
How it started

A decade in the classroom, then a leap into private education

Kirsty Owen started her teaching career over ten years ago as a primary school teacher. From the start, she held a passion for educating people and helping them reach their own potential — building education programmes designed around the student experience.

Whilst still teaching full time, Kirsty began private tutoring on the side, delivering focused, engaging lessons she could fully control. In 2023, she left the classroom to pursue private education and tutoring full time.

Why it works

Thirty children in a classroom, one student in a tutoring session

Classroom teaching is designed to cater for the needs of the collective. Private tutoring creates a learning journey fully suited to one individual — and we consistently see that this nurtures positive learning outcomes.

As word of mouth spread, Kirsty began receiving enquiries beyond her own specialisms — secondary and college students needing subjects she didn't teach herself. It became clear she needed to expand her team to meet demand.

That growth took the brand from Tutor Kirsty to Kirsty's Tuition: a team of 22 specialist tutors, each personally vetted and interviewed by Kirsty to the same standard.

Our mission

To empower students of all ages through bespoke, engaging, and goal-oriented education.

Supportive
Empowering
Adaptable
Encouraging
Enjoyment is a priority

Learning and enjoyment are deeply intertwined

Positive emotions like pleasure and satisfaction trigger dopamine, which enhances memory, boosts motivation, and encourages deeper engagement. When lessons are enjoyable, the brain associates education with positive feelings — making information easier to recall and helping to prevent academic burnout. We're all here for results, but we get there by making the process one students want to show up for.

Who it's for

Anybody with a want or need to learn

Our eldest student — Michael, 86
Michael, from Israel, wanted to speak English well enough to connect with his grandchildren in the USA. Two conversational lessons a week, over a long-term subscription, grew his vocabulary, fluency — and his confidence.
Our youngest learner — Liam, 4 (now 7)
Liam's mother wanted him to grow up fluent in English from Serbia. Years later, he's still learning with us — with new environments constantly created to keep him interested, engaged, and challenged.
